KNOWLOGY INTERNATIONAL APPOINTS AMBASSADOR S. ROSHAN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF AFGHANISTAN TECHNICAL VOCATIONAL INSTITUTE (ATVI), AFGHANISTAN'S FIRST POST-WAR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

VIENNA, Va., May 9, 2007 - Knowlogy International announced today the appointment of former Afghan Ambassador Sardar Roshan as Executive Director of the Afghanistan Technical Vocational Institute (ATVI). ATVI is the first post-war vocational school to educate male and female students in critical skills necessary for the future of Afghanistan

ATVI, which opened its doors last month, was developed in response to the Afghan Ministry of Education's desire to address the critical skill shortfall in construction, horticulture, automotive mechanics, and information technology in Afghanistan. Presently, jobs in these areas are being filled by foreign labor, or simply not at all. The school was developed by Knowlogy International Chairman A. Huda Farouki and former Afghan Ambassador to the United States and current ATVI Chairman, Ishaq Shahryar.

According to Knowlogy Chairman Huda Farouki, "Ambassador Roshan brings a unique set of technical, academic, and community outreach skills that will ensure the success of this Institute."

qAmbassador Roshan has played a vital role in Afghanistan's current political progression. His position as Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan and Afghan Minister of Education placed him on the forefront in the country's leadership measures. In the last decade, he has played an active role in bringing peace and democracy to Afghanistan during the factional war and Taliban rule, developing democratic institutions in the country, and maintaining democratic principles during Afghanistan's first Presidential elections.

"Mr. Farouki's vision in filling the skill shortage within the Afghan workforce is a monumental step towards uplifting the Afghan economy. Along with the support and leadership of Mr. Shahryar, ATVI's status as a self sustaining Institute provides a mutually beneficial business model in Afghanistan," said Ambassador Roshan.

ATVI will initially provide training for more than 600 male and female students drawn from Kabul and other urban and rural regions in Afghanistan. The Institute's goal is to eventually graduate 5,000 students per year.
